Picture the scenario. You just bought a beautiful putting green just to constantly practice on it yourself. Big mistake!

You would be doing your friends and family (not to mention yourself) a disservice by not triumphantly telling everyone about your new practice putting green. Once they hear about it they will all be eager to come and play so why not have a party where everyone can come along and have a go playing on your new putting green.

To add to the fun on the night you can have mini-tournaments complete with fake trophies for the winner. If you have an outdoor putting green then Spring or Summer would be the best time to host a party for obvious weather-related issues, on the other hand if your practice green is an indoor-putting green then you can have a Putting Party all year-round, in fact you may find yourself throwing these parties all year-round such is the pleasure and enjoyment shared by all on these nights.

You can have a kiddies putting tournament on the putting green, a tournament for both sexes then a battle of the champions. Fun is guaranteed for all.

However a few words of warning – if the tournament being played on a grass putting green then ensure the children don’t slice up your turf, the same goes for adults in fact, particularly those who might be enjoying a beer or two on the night.

You should have a few accessories to add further on the night – things like plastic trophies, scorecards, hole-in-one prizes etc. Putting green parties are lighthearted affairs and provide a distraction from your own putting practice now that you have your own practice putting green.

If you have an indoor synthetic putting green then you will want to ensure that guests don’t spill liquids such as beer on your green. Why not provide a nearby table for people to rest their glasses or bottles whilst they chat and play. If you have an outdoor green and plan on having a barbecue at your party then don’t have it too close to your putting green. You do not want a group of people trampling over your golf green to pick up their hot dogs or burgers.

The agony of failed putts will no longer be a problem thanks to the hours of practice you put in on your putting green but don’t forget to enjoy owning one as much as possible. Having a Putting Green Party is one of the best ways of enjoying owning a golf putting green.

Indoor putting greens may mean you get less sun but they also mean you get less rain and that can only be good news from a golfer’s perspective.

Indoor golf putting greens are no longer reserved solely for the homes of golf enthusiasts. They are now commonplace at corporate events such as conventions and also adorn the reception areas of large businesses. Their growing popularity can be attributed to a few factors amongst them competitive prices, practicality and a wide choice of putting green to suit any occasion.

Whether you are having an open putting tournament with colleagues or friends, or if you are concentrating on refining your putting skills there are other practice putting green features to look out for when considering which indoor putting green to purchase. (You may be able to get these items separately to your green).

A step on either side to facilitate both left and right-handed golfers

Putt reducer to make your target that little bit more difficult to reach thus enhancing your putting ability

Putter-rack to rest your putters against

Depending on the type of green that you wish to buy you will need to consider some installation issues, though most are very easy to install and will pose no maintenance difficulties.

Once you have identified the room in your home or office, that you intend putting your practice green, then you need to measure the dimensions in that room in order to find a green that will be a suitable match for that room. You should bear in mind that you may find yourself becoming more popular with friends and family once you buy an indoor putting green so, if possible, try to put the green in a roomy area in your house / office allowing for visitors and suitable for a party or tournament.

Should you intend to buy an indoor putting green purely for practice then you will only require a smaller area as you will not expect to have fellow-players or guests lounging around.

Each Expand-A-Green kit contains ten modular interlocking panels, two regulation size cups and two flag sticks. Pins can be placed at multiple locations. The playing surface is around half an inch thick, so the cups are not fully sunk though they are recessed.

Expand-A-Green is weather resistant and as such is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. It measures 24 square feet in area. The ball travels at country club speed.

A six piece expansion kit is available, allowing for a large number of putting green configurations.

Care must be taken when attaching modules to each other to ensure there is no lip or seam between modules. This is to be expected with this type of modular putting green that does not use an overlay.

If you’re looking for a fun, portable and changeable practice putting green that plays at a great speed, all at a reasonable price, it’s hard to beat Expand-A-Green.

The Dogbone Indoor / Outdoor Putting Green is produced by Tour Links, one of the most popular putting green manufacturers in the world. It is a dual-ended, weather resistant and portable practice putting green.

Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, the Tour Links 3′x10′ Dogbone Indoor / Outdoor Putting Green uses patented technology to produce a green with a tour speed experience. Combined with two regulation sized cups (one at each end) and a single practice pin, this practice putting green has an authentic feel to it.

The putting green platform is elevated a few inches from the ground providing a full 20 square feet of putting surface. If installed outside, it can be installed ’submerged’ by those few inches, allowing it to become level with the ground and thus providers a bigger surface for the golfer to stand on.

The Tour Links 3′x10′ Dogbone Indoor / Outdoor Putting Green is also a very portable practice putting green. Like most Tour Links products, it is easily assembled from a number of interlocking panels finished by rolling the pre-cut turf on top. Tour Links panels are constructed with strong honeycomb providing ample support for players.

The Dogbone putting green looks as good as it feels and fits perfectly in a home setting. A highly recommended product from a respected manufacturer.

Those of you who may consider artificial practice putting greens as a potential eyesore for your garden or as a cheap substitute for the real thing should perhaps reconsider those thoughts. The durability and improved quality standards in putting greens suitable for gardens make them an excellent choice when it comes to improving your handicap or just having fun with friends and family. The lack of maintenance on these greens only adds to their attractiveness.

Gone are the days of home putting greens looking and feeling nothing like the real thing, nowadays they work as a perfect substitute for your local golf green and thanks to the wide variety available on the net you are sure to find one to blend in with your garden.

Whether it is the relaxation of sinking a few putts before work or unwinding after a long day in the office, the pleasure of practicing your putting in your own garden makes these greens a very tempting option for golf enthusiasts. The pleasure of improving your game in private and then surprising your colleagues or friends with your new-found putting confidence is extremely satisfying indeed.

While drives, chips and tee-offs are vital components of a golfers game there is no shot more important nor memorable than the putt itself so why spend endless hours at the driving range when you could be practicing the most important shot of them all in your own garden?

Your short game is ultimately how your golf skills are assessed and should be at the heartbeat of your practice sessions so cut out the commute to your golf club along with the cost of practicing and look towards having your own green, you may just find yourself saying “hole in one” a lot more often.

While most of us would love to own our own golf course this is unlikely unless we win the lottery. However, owning your own practice putting green is another thing and certainly not reliant on the proceeds of a lottery win. This article examines putting greens, specifically synthetic putting greens.

Synthetic putting greens are a close substitute for the real thing but are in need of a lot less maintenance than ‘real’ grass putting greens. The greens in levels vary between those with some elevation, to the popular straight put style and even downhill slopes. They are built to withstand the harshest of weather climates and usually have long-term guarantees which hopefully you will never need.

With synthetic greens rather than true grass you can also avoid the hardship of watering, weeding, fertilizing, mowing and paying for the upkeep of your green. The biggest advantage to owing a synthetic putting green is that your putting is never rained off. The bane in the lives of all golfers be them recreational or pro is the dreaded downpour that puts an immediate end to an enjoyable putting session. This is a worry that owners of synthetic greens don’t have, as most can be played on year-round, irrespective of conditions.

If you are considering having a golf green installed at home, that would probably mean you are a pretty keen golfer and will be using it on a daily basis, not to mention the fact that your friends and family will probably be using it too. This constant use could create wear and tear on a green made of real grass, again this is a pain you can avoid with a synthetic green as they are built to withstand the pressure of prolonged use.

Synthetic greens are as close to putting perfection as there can be. They make the sensible choice for a home golf practice green and are growing in popularity, it’s not difficult to see why.
